Sure Signs That You are Still Growing Taller

Signs That You are Still Growing Taller

Are you wondering if you’re going to get taller or not? Keep on reading this article — below, you will come across some of the signs that you are, in fact, still growing taller!

First things first: it’s very much possible for different people to encounter different signs while they’re growing taller. It only means that you may have none of the signs that will be discussed below, but you’re actually growing.

Similarly, some of the signs mentioned below may be around, but it doesn’t mean that you are still growing. The bottom line is you should not just base things on the signs stated below, but also on actual measurements.

So without any more ado, let’s check out some of the signs that you are still growing taller.

Signs of Growing Taller

Your Clothes Keep Getting Smaller and Smaller

One of the telltale signs that you are still growing taller is that you are always shopping for clothes because the ones you purchased a few months ago no longer seem to fit your body perfectly.

It’s completely normal for your socks to peek between the hems of your pants and your sneakers if you are sitting. This is most especially true if you have your legs crossed.

However, it is an entirely different story if your socks can be spotted from a mile away if you are standing — it only means that your pants are simply too short for your legs. If the very same pair of pants perfectly covered your entire legs a couple of months ago, then it’s likely that you are still growing.

Are you constantly ending up with achy and blistered feet after walking, running, or participating in sports? It could mean that you have shoes that are too tight.

If the same pair of shoes used to feel like second skin not too long ago, chances are your feet have grown quickly, which is one of the signs that you are still growing taller!

Worry not if it seems like you have to buy new pants and shoes several times a year. Later on, when you have already reached your maximum height, you will surely thank your body for not stopping growing quickly.

This is most especially true when the time comes when everyone around you is saying how impressive your height is.

Your Hunger is an Unstoppable Force

Your body requires lots and lots of energy for its proper growth and development. This causes your metabolism to run faster than a speeding bullet train.

As a result of such, you constantly feel hungry — you often find yourself stepping foot in the kitchen or the local fast food joint to keep your tummy feeling pleased.

Consider this as a good thing, especially if you’re still in your teens.

It’s for the fact that your body simply wants to get its hands on all the calories it needs for it to grow and develop, and that includes having your bone lengthened.

This is exactly the reason why adolescents are strongly discouraged from dieting in order to slim down. Staying away from food can keep the body from being supplied with sufficient amounts of calories.

Also, dieting prevents the body from getting important nutrients. Going on a diet can keep the bones of teens from growing properly.

During the growth spurt, it’s a must for the bones to be provided with certain nutrients, including most especially calcium.

However, it doesn’t mean that you can consume any food each time you feel hungry. Still, it’s a must to go for those that are regarded as healthy.

Not only will this supply your body with the various nutrients it needs, but also keep at bay problems such as obesity, high blood pressure, and heart disease, all of which are quite common among youngsters these days as a result of unhealthy eating habits and lack of physical activity, too.

You Still Look and Feel Awkward

While you’re still growing and developing during your teenage years, it’s not just your height that is changing but so many other things as well.

You can put the blame on various hormones flooding your bloodstream, which is necessary for the development of your primary and secondary sexual characteristics — one example of your many secondary sexual characteristics is a change in your height.

It’s not unlikely for your face to be as shiny as a greased frying pan, which makes you prone to having enlarged pores, blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, and acne.

Hair also starts appearing on various places on your body, including the face, armpits, chest, and down there.

Body odor is totally repulsive, but it’s completely normal among teens. The good news is that you can always take a shower more often and also use deodorant afterward.

Aside from being smelly, your body may also look gangly. Worry not as this is completely normal among teens that are growing in height.

Your shoulders, elbows, wrists, knuckles, knees, and ankles may seem oversized, but that’s okay because you are transitioning into a taller individual.

No one can deny that the teenage years are some of the most awkward years of your life. That is why it’s very much likely for you to have low self-confidence.

Fortunately, later on, when you have reached your potential height, you will feel confident once more, especially if you are blessed with above-average height.

Your Height isn’t Your Predicted Height Yet

Last but not least, you are still growing if your current height is not yet your predicted height.

So how do you have your height predicted? This can be done in two easy ways:

First method

Add the height of your father and mother.

Afterward, divide the result by two.

Add 2.5 inches to the result if you’re a male. If you’re a female, subtract 2.5 inches to it.

For instance, you are likely to end up as a male who is 5 feet and 11 inches tall or a female who is 5 feet and 5 inches tall if your father is 6 feet tall and your mother is 5 feet and 5 inches tall.

Second method

Double your height when you were two years old.

All you have to do is multiply your age back then by two. The result is your predicted height.

For instance, you are likely to wind up with a height of 5 feet and 8 inches if you were 2 feet and 10 inches when you were just two years old. The same computation applies to both males and females.

It is entirely up to you which method you prefer in having your height predicted. However, do take note that any one of them can only give you a rough prediction, not an exact one.

This only means that you could end up slightly taller or shorter than the resulting figure, or exactly what the resulting figure is.

Of course, the methods mentioned above are useless when it comes to predicting your height if you’re adopted, and you have no idea on how tall your biological parents are, or if your parents have no record on how tall you were back when you were just two years old.

Before You Go

Whether you’re still in your teens or way past it, keep in mind that growing taller is always a possibility. This only means that there is hope for you if your lack of height is the one that is keeping you from feeling confident and reaping success.

Look for some telltale signs that you are still growing taller to know that there’s no need for you to feel frustrated.

Fret not if it seems like the signs mentioned above are nowhere to be found. That’s because there are many things that you may do to encourage your body to keep on growing taller.

Something as simple as maintaining good posture can make you taller. As a bonus, it can make you feel more confident, too.

Performing certain exercises such as hanging, stretching, and yoga is scientifically proven to help turn you into a taller person.

Don’t forget the importance of supplying your body with the nutrients your bones need to grow longer and stronger, and that can be done by having a healthy diet on an everyday basis.
